Mariuccia Teroni

Expert in publishing techniques and information treatment with an extensive career in pioneering digital technologies for the publishing world. She was Adjunct Professor of Multimedia Publishing laboratories at the University of Milan (2002-2006) and Adjunct Professor at the Master in Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the University of Pavia in cooperation with FacilityLive (2017-2019). She is author of technical books that are adopted in prestigious Italian universities and journalism schools and speaker at conferences and seminars on academic and business topics. Together with Gianpiero Lotito, she is the Founder of FacilityLive.

From 2014 to 2016 she was Ambassador and Digital Icon of e-Skills for Jobs, an awareness-raising campaign of the European Commission under the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs for the development of digital skills and better jobs in Europe.

From 2014 to 2015 she was Digital Icon of Watify – Stimulating Digital Entrepreneurship, an awareness-raising campaign of the European Commission under the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs promoting digital entrepreneurship in Europe and creating a European ecosystem of digital tutors to encourage businesses to go digital.

In 2015 she became a member of the Board of Confindustria Pavia (industry association of the city of Pavia).

In 2015 she received the Gold Medal of the City of Pavia for her contribution to the technological innovation of the area and for having decided, in 2013, not to move FacilityLive to the Silicon Valley after obtaining patents (at the time) in 39 countries of the world, thus keeping the company where it was born.

Also, in 2015 she was nominated as one of the four Successful Women Web Entrepreneurs by We Hubs: an initiative by the European Commission to promote female entrepreneurship.

Since 2016 she has been a member of the Advisory Board of MIBE (Master in International Business and Entrepreneurship of the University of Pavia).

From 2016 to 2017 she was Vice President responsible for the Digital Society strategic area of ANITEC (Italian Association for ICT, member of the Board of DIGITALEUROPE and Confindustria Digitale).

In 2017 she was elected as 1st Vice President of ANITEC – a title she held until the merger of with Assinform (Italian Association for IT) in September 2017.

Since October 2017 she has been member of the General Council of ANITEC-Assinform.

Also, on October 27th 2017, she received the She made a difference – Donna Leader Award 2017 award by EWMD (European Women’s Management Development) for the innovative achievements.

From 2017 to 2018 she was Ambassador of Watify – Boosting Technological Transformation: an awareness-raising campaign by the European Commission to stimulate the modernisation of European industry. The campaign focused on the technological transformation of traditional SMEs, promotion of regional digitisation and uptake of advanced technologies – notably Key Enabling Technologies.

In 2018 she was renewed as a member of the General Council of Confindustria Pavia for the two-year period 2018-2019.

On December 1st 2018, she received the prize Women who made it promoted by Sportello Donna and General States of Women to award enterprising, determined and full of initiative women who reached top positions in their careers.

In 2019 she became a member of the STEAMiamoci Advisory Board, an Assolombarda project for the spreading of digital skills.

In 2020, after to the merger by incorporation between Assolombarda and Confindustria Pavia, she was nominated member of the Committee of the Pavia branch of Assolombarda.

Gianpiero Lotito

CEO

Expert technologist with an extensive career in pioneering digital technologies for the publishing world. He was Adjunct Professor of Multimedia Publishing at the University of Milan (2001-2006) and Adjunct Professor at the Master in Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the University of Pavia in cooperation with FacilityLive (2017-2019). Since 2020 he is Adjunct Professor of Digital Ecosystems at the University of Pavia. He wrote books and articles on technology for major Italian editors like Bruno Mondadori, Sperling and Gruppo Espresso. Together with Mariuccia Teroni, he is the Founder of FacilityLive.

From 2014 to 2016 he was Ambassador of the e-Skills for Jobs: an awareness-raising campaign of the European Commission under the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs for the development of digital skills and better jobs in Europe.

In 2015 he received the Gold Medal of the City of Pavia for his contribution to the technological innovation of the area and for having decided, in 2013, not to move FacilityLive to the Silicon Valley after obtaining patents (at the time) in 39 countries of the world, thus keeping the company where it was born.

In 2016, he was the innovative entrepreneur chosen by the Ministry for Economic Development to accompany the Minister in representation of Italy at the Informal Meeting of Competitiveness Ministers organised by the Dutch Presidency of the European Union.

In 2017 and 2018 he was Ambassador of Watify – Boosting Technological Transformation: an awareness-raising campaign by the European Commission to stimulate the modernisation of European industry. The campaign focused on the technological transformation of traditional SMEs, promotion of regional digitisation and uptake of advanced technologies – notably Key Enabling Technologies.

On October 2nd 2018 he was the first Italian non-politician invited to give a speech at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly after 20 years on the occasion of the International Non-Violence Day in New York with a speech entitled Technology and Peace.

On December 19th 2018 he was appointed President of the European Tech Alliance (EUTA). The EUTA brings together and gives a voice to the major European digital champions, scaleups and leading startups. Today it brings together 30 European technology brands from 19 European countries, including, in addition to FacilityLive, Spotify, Zalando, Booking.com, Criteo, eDreams, FREE NOW, Klarna, Rovio, SoundCloud, Supercell, Vinted and many others. FacilityLive is among the 5 founding members of the EUTA.

In 2019 he received the Heraclea Award for having distinguished himself in Italy and abroad as Lucanian excellence.

Since 2019, he has been member of the Think Tank “Innovative entrepreneurship development” promoted by Cattolica University in Milan to support startups and scaleups.

On December 12th 2019 he was reconfirmed as President of the European Tech Alliance for the second consecutive term of office.

In 2020 he was nominated by the European Commission as one of the European Ambassadors of the #EUvsVirus pan-European Hackathon thanks to FacilityLive’s strong commitment to the fight against COVID-19 via European digital tech.
